Trichology Consultation

Diagnostic · No Obligation

Every client at HHR begins here — and for good reason. Before any treatment is recommended, we need to understand exactly what is happening with your hair and scalp, and what is realistically achievable for you specifically.

The trichology consultation involves a thorough clinical assessment of your scalp, hair loss pattern, and relevant medical history. We will look at the stage and distribution of your loss, assess whether your follicles are still active, and discuss any contributing factors — lifestyle, medications, thyroid function, stress history — that may be relevant.

From this assessment we will build a picture of your situation and make honest, clinically grounded recommendations. Nothing is pushed, nothing is assumed. You will leave knowing exactly where you stand and what your realistic options are — with no obligation to proceed.

The consultation fee is deducted in full from the cost of any advanced treatment plan booked as a result.

Medical Hair Programme

Prescribed · Clinically Monitored

Clinically supervised minoxidil and finasteride programmes form the foundation of most hair restoration treatment plans. These are the two most extensively studied and evidence-backed pharmaceutical options for male pattern hair loss — and the critical difference between obtaining them through HHR versus an online pharmacy is that someone qualified is actually watching over your progress.

Minoxidil works by improving blood flow to the scalp and extending the active growth phase of the hair follicle. It is available as a topical solution or oral tablet, and consistent use has been shown to slow loss and promote regrowth in the majority of men.

Finasteride works by blocking the conversion of testosterone to DHT — the hormone responsible for follicle miniaturisation. It is taken orally and, when used consistently, has been shown to halt or significantly slow progression in approximately 85% of men.

At HHR, these programmes are individually prescribed and monitored. We will assess your suitability, discuss potential side effects honestly, and review your progress regularly — monitoring your progress. This is not a subscription box. It is clinically supervised treatment.

LLLT Laser Therapy

Non-Invasive · Repeatable

Low-level laser therapy uses specific wavelengths of red light to stimulate cellular activity within the hair follicle. The light energy is absorbed by cells in the follicle, increasing their metabolic activity and encouraging the follicle to remain in — or re-enter — its active growth phase.

LLLT is one of the few hair loss treatments to have received FDA clearance, and clinical studies have demonstrated improvements in hair density, thickness, and overall scalp health with consistent use.

It is entirely non-invasive — there are no injections, no needles, and no downtime. Sessions are typically 20–30 minutes. LLLT works particularly well as part of a broader programme, complementing medical hair treatments and regenerative therapies by maintaining a healthy scalp environment between more intensive sessions.

LLLT is also available as a take-home device for daily use between clinic appointments — ideal for clients who want to maximise the consistency of their treatment without frequent clinic visits.

Hair Filler Injections

Advanced · Injectable

Hair filler injections use a peptide-rich solution containing hyaluronic acid and biomimetic peptides — molecules that mimic the signals naturally occurring in healthy scalp tissue — to nourish the follicle environment, activate dormant follicles, and improve hair density.

Unlike PRP, which uses your own blood, hair fillers use a standardised manufactured solution. This means the concentration of active ingredients is consistent across every session — a meaningful advantage for clients whose platelet quality may be lower due to age or other factors.

The treatment is delivered via a series of small injections into the scalp. Most clients find it very well tolerated, and there is no downtime. A course of four sessions spaced three to four weeks apart is typically recommended for the best initial results, followed by maintenance sessions every six months.

PRP Therapy

Established · Evidence-Backed

Platelet-rich plasma therapy is one of the most extensively studied non-surgical hair restoration treatments available. It uses your own blood — specifically the growth factors and proteins concentrated within your platelets — to stimulate follicle activity, improve scalp circulation, and encourage hair regrowth.

A small blood sample is drawn from your arm and placed in a centrifuge, which spins rapidly to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the red blood cells. The concentrated plasma is then injected into the areas of the scalp where hair loss is occurring.

What makes PRP effective is its combination of growth factors — including PDGF, VEGF, TGF-beta, and EGF — which signal to the follicle to repair, regenerate, and re-enter its active growth phase. Because it uses your own biological material, the risk of reaction is extremely low.

Multiple peer-reviewed clinical trials have demonstrated significant improvements in hair density and thickness following PRP treatment. It works best in the earlier to mid stages of hair loss, where follicles are still active but weakened.

06

Exosome Therapy

Advanced · New to the North

Exosome therapy represents the most advanced non-surgical hair restoration option currently available. Exosomes are nano-sized vesicles naturally produced by stem cells that carry a highly concentrated payload of growth factors, proteins, and signalling molecules. When introduced to the scalp, they communicate directly with hair follicle cells — stimulating repair, reducing inflammation, and encouraging the follicle back into its active growth phase.

The key advantage over PRP is the concentration and consistency of the regenerative signal. PRP delivers growth factors from your own platelets — effective, but variable in potency depending on your age and health. Exosome therapy delivers a standardised, highly concentrated external regenerative signal that does not depend on your own platelet quality.

Treatment is delivered via microneedling, which creates microchannels in the scalp surface to maximise absorption. The procedure takes approximately 60–90 minutes and most clients return to normal activities the same day.

Exosome therapy is still relatively new to the UK market — and particularly rare in the North of England. HHR is committed to bringing this next-generation treatment to Harrogate as a genuine option for clients who want the most advanced approach available.

07

Carboxytherapy

Injectable · Regenerative

Carboxytherapy involves the controlled subcutaneous introduction of medical-grade carbon dioxide gas directly into the scalp. Although it may sound unconventional, it is a clinically established technique used across dermatology and aesthetic medicine — and increasingly recognised as an effective option in hair restoration.

The mechanism centres on the Bohr effect: when CO₂ is introduced beneath the scalp, the body responds by increasing localised blood flow and oxygen delivery to the area. This creates a significantly improved follicular environment — one that is better oxygenated, better nourished, and more responsive to other regenerative treatments. The result is improved follicle activity and, with consistent treatment, measurable improvements in hair density and scalp health.

Carboxytherapy is well tolerated and requires no recovery period. The sensation during treatment is described as a mild pressure or tingling. It works particularly well in combination with other injectable treatments or as a standalone scalp conditioning therapy.

08

TED Ultrasound Delivery

Next Generation · Non-Invasive

Trans-epidermal delivery — TED — uses ultrasound-based technology to drive growth serums and active ingredients deeper into the scalp than topical application alone can achieve. The ultrasound creates a temporary increase in skin permeability, allowing the treatment solution to penetrate to the follicle level where it can have maximum effect.

TED is entirely non-invasive — there are no injections and no needles involved. This makes it an excellent option for clients who want the benefit of deep treatment delivery without the discomfort associated with injectable treatments, or as a comfortable adjunct to a broader programme.

It is particularly effective when combined with exosome or PRP therapy — using TED to enhance absorption of the regenerative agents introduced in those treatments. It can also be used as a standalone treatment for clients in the early stages of loss who want to begin treatment without injections.

09

Scalp Micropigmentation

Aesthetic · Permanent

Scalp micropigmentation is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that uses precision pigment deposits to replicate the appearance of hair follicles on the scalp. The result is the look of a closely cropped, freshly shaved head — with a natural density and a defined, natural-looking hairline.

SMP is fundamentally different from the regenerative treatments above. Rather than stimulating hair growth, it creates a cosmetic result that is immediate, long-lasting, and requires no ongoing maintenance beyond a touch-up every three to five years. For many men — particularly those with more advanced loss where regenerative treatments have limited effect — it represents a genuinely transformative solution.

The procedure is performed over two to three sessions spaced two to three weeks apart, allowing the pigment to settle and be refined between visits. Colour matching and hairline design are agreed carefully before treatment begins, taking into account your natural colouring, skin tone, and desired result.

SMP also works exceptionally well as a complement to regenerative treatments — using micropigmentation to establish the appearance of density while PRP or exosome therapy works on stimulating genuine regrowth in thinning areas.

Aftercare & Support

Post-Surgery · Ongoing Care

Following a hair transplant, the months immediately after surgery are the period during which proper clinical monitoring makes the most meaningful difference to the final result. Having a specialist overseeing your recovery — monitoring graft survival, managing the scalp environment, and responding to any concerns — is what separates a well-supported outcome from a guesswork recovery.

HHR's Aftercare & Support programme provides professional, specialist local care following transplant surgery, regardless of where or with whom the procedure was performed.

The programme includes PRP sessions to support graft survival and stimulate growth, LLLT to maintain scalp health, regular trichoscopy monitoring to track progress objectively, and prescription management for post-operative minoxidil programmes. All of this is coordinated by a clinical professional who understands what a good recovery looks like — and what to do if it deviates from expectations.

This programme does not require you to have used a specific clinic or surgeon. If you have had a hair transplant and want proper clinical oversight of your recovery, HHR can provide it.
