Harrogate Hair Restoration
Everything you need to know before joining the waiting list — from how the treatments work to what to expect when we open.
PRP — platelet-rich plasma — therapy uses your own blood to stimulate hair growth. A small sample is drawn from your arm and placed in a centrifuge, which separates the plasma from the red blood cells. This plasma is rich in growth factors and proteins that the body uses to repair and regenerate tissue.
The concentrated plasma is then injected into the areas of the scalp where hair loss is occurring. The growth factors stimulate dormant follicles, improve blood supply to the scalp, and encourage the hair to re-enter its active growth phase.
Most clients require an initial course of three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, followed by maintenance sessions every six to twelve months.
Exosome therapy is the next generation of regenerative hair treatment. Exosomes are tiny vesicles — essentially biological messengers — derived from stem cells. They carry a concentrated payload of growth factors, proteins, and signalling molecules that communicate directly with your hair follicles to stimulate regrowth and repair.
Unlike PRP, which relies on the quality of your own platelets, exosome therapy delivers a consistent, highly concentrated regenerative signal regardless of your age or health status. Many specialists consider it more potent than PRP, particularly for more significant hair loss.
The treatment is delivered via microneedling, which creates microchannels in the scalp to maximise absorption. There is minimal downtime and most clients resume normal activities the same day.
Scalp micropigmentation is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that uses tiny deposits of pigment to replicate the appearance of hair follicles on the scalp. The result is the look of a close-cropped, freshly shaved head — with natural density and a defined hairline.
SMP is particularly effective for more advanced hair loss where regenerative treatments alone may not fully restore density, or as a complement to PRP or exosome therapy. It is also an excellent option for men who prefer a definitive, low-maintenance solution.
Results are long-lasting, typically requiring a touch-up every three to five years depending on skin type and sun exposure.
Medical hair programmes involve clinically prescribed treatments such as topical minoxidil and finasteride — the two most evidence-backed pharmaceutical options for male pattern hair loss. Unlike online pharmacy solutions, HHR's programmes are clinically supervised, meaning your treatment is monitored regularly and adjusted based on your response.
These programmes form the foundation of most treatment plans and are often combined with PRP, LLLT, or other regenerative therapies for the best long-term results. The key difference from buying medication online is that someone qualified is actually watching over your progress.
The treatments offered by HHR are all evidence-based and widely used in clinical practice. PRP has been studied extensively with multiple peer-reviewed trials demonstrating improvements in hair density and reduced shedding. Medical programmes using minoxidil and finasteride are among the most robustly evidenced treatments available for male pattern hair loss.
That said, results vary between individuals — no treatment can guarantee a specific outcome, and early intervention consistently produces better results than treating advanced loss. This is one reason why the trichology consultation is so important; it allows us to be honest with you about what's realistically achievable in your specific case before anything begins.
All treatments offered by HHR are non-surgical, minimally invasive, and widely performed in clinical settings across the UK and internationally. PRP is particularly safe as it uses your own blood, eliminating any risk of allergic reaction or rejection.
As with any procedure involving injections or microneedling, minor temporary side effects such as mild redness, scalp tenderness, or slight swelling at the treatment site are possible. These typically resolve within 24 to 48 hours. All treatments will be performed under strict clinical protocols.
One of the key advantages of non-surgical hair restoration is that downtime is minimal. Most clients return to normal activities on the same day. You may be advised to avoid washing your hair for 24 hours following certain treatments, and to protect your scalp from direct sun exposure for a short period after treatment.
Specific aftercare guidance will be provided before and after every session.
Most clients describe the treatments as uncomfortable rather than painful. PRP injections involve a series of small scalp injections — topical anaesthetic can be applied beforehand to minimise any discomfort. Microneedling for exosome delivery is similarly well tolerated by most people.
We will always discuss your comfort level before and during any treatment, and no procedure will proceed without your full agreement.
Every client begins with a trichology consultation — a thorough clinical assessment of your scalp and hair loss pattern. This includes a detailed conversation about your hair loss history, when you first noticed it, any family history, lifestyle factors, and what you're hoping to achieve.
We will assess the pattern and stage of your hair loss and discuss which treatments are most likely to be effective for your specific situation. Nothing is recommended until we understand your case properly — and nothing is pushed. You'll leave with a clear picture of your options and honest expectations about what's achievable.
Absolutely not. The consultation is an assessment and a conversation — there is no obligation to proceed with any treatment. We would much rather you leave having had an honest discussion and make a considered decision in your own time than feel any pressure in the room.
If you do decide to proceed, we will put together an individualised treatment plan and discuss costs transparently before anything begins.
Guide prices for all treatments are available on our pricing page. These are starting points — your final programme cost will be confirmed at your trichology consultation based on your individual needs.
No treatment will be quoted or recommended until we have assessed your case properly. We believe in complete transparency around cost before anything begins.
Yes. HHR offers an individualised subscription plan that spreads the total cost of your treatment programme into one simple monthly payment — making it easier to commit to a full course of treatment without a large upfront cost.
Every subscription plan also includes two dedicated progress monitoring appointments per year, separate from your treatment sessions, so we can track how your hair and scalp are responding and adjust your programme as needed.
Subscription plans are tailored to your individual programme and confirmed at your consultation.
Yes — the £75 trichology consultation fee is deducted in full from the cost of any advanced treatment plan booked as a result of that consultation. You only pay the full consultation fee if you decide not to proceed with treatment.
HHR was founded by Pete, a clinical healthcare professional with years of patient-facing experience. Pete began losing his hair in his twenties and found — as many men do — that accessing credible, specialist support was far harder than it should be.
That personal experience, combined with his clinical background, is what led to the founding of HHR. You can read more about Pete's story on the Meet the Founder page.
Pete holds clinical healthcare qualifications and is currently completing specialist training in trichology and non-surgical hair restoration treatments including PRP therapy, exosome therapy, and scalp micropigmentation. HHR is being built with the right clinical foundations — we will not offer any treatment we are not fully qualified and insured to perform.
Full details of qualifications and insurance will be published ahead of opening.
Most clinics offering PRP or hair treatments do so as one of twenty or thirty treatments on a wider menu. Hair loss is not their specialism — it is an add-on. HHR does one thing only: non-surgical hair restoration for men.
That focus means deeper expertise, more considered treatment planning, and a practitioner who has invested specifically in this field rather than offering it alongside facials and skin treatments. When it comes to something as personal and ongoing as hair loss, that difference matters.
HHR is currently in its pre-launch phase. We are completing specialist training and finalising our clinical setup before opening. Everyone on the waiting list will be contacted directly with updates as we approach our opening date.
Registering your interest now costs nothing and carries no obligation — but it does secure your place at the front of the queue for priority booking when we open.
When you register your interest, your details are saved securely and you will be among the first to be contacted when we open. Waiting list members receive priority booking and an introductory consultation rate as a thank you for their early support.

HHR will be based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. We are in the process of finalising our clinic location and will announce full details ahead of opening. The clinic will be accessible, discreet, and designed to feel like a proper medical environment — not a beauty salon.
